ABOUT TPF, Inc.
®
Tony Plunkett Foundation, Inc,.® (TPF), is organized and operated exclusively for charitable purposes in accordance with Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. TPF was created in the memory of the late Mr. Tony Plunkett, an avid golfer, who truly loved the game. Mr. Plunkett died of Hodgkin’s Disease in 2001. It is the desire of those whose lives he touched to find ways to carry on his legacy and give back to the community. The foundation creates a direct response to the growing number of minority youth that are either falling through the cracks at school, in our community, or are already entangled with the Juvenile Court System. TPF promotes opportunities for “at-risk” youth to stay in school, and graduate from high school while preparing our youth for challenges that may impact their everyday life. In addition, TPF places focus on health care with emphasis on youth diagnosed with cancer, along with cancer awareness and prevention programs. TPF intends to partner with the local YMCA, YWCA, Boys and Girls Club, NAACP, local Cancer Organizations, and others that will assist TPF in accomplishing its vision and mission. The return on our investment is to prepare our precious assets to become successful, to become better critical thinkers, and to close the economic gap in our community.
TPF coordinates young leaders with mentors focused on positive reinforcement, servant leadership, and team building. Our mentors leverage all knowledge available to them for the benefit of our young leaders to stay encouraged, impactful, understanding, yet accessible to others.
TPF believes we can reach each young promising leader, one at a time. Our future rest with their progress, we must encourage our youth to be successful by pursing educational excellence, their careers will count on it. This path forward will not be an accidental development, but rather an intentional, distinctive feature of equality.
MISSION STATEMENT
TPF’s commitment is to serve its neighboring communities by educating young leaders who are underserved and under-represented by providing “at-risk” youth with positive leadership, and thereby shaping future entrepreneurs, professionals, and exceptional minority fathers and mothers rooted from the principles of the game of golf.
VISION
TPF will inspire and inform young leaders that are under-served and under-represented with philosophies of etiquette and a declared set of goals that are normally afforded in golf. Equity and equality empower our future leaders to embrace golf, which holds constant principles and philosophies that will improve health, reduce stress, build relationships, and prepare young leaders to learn to accept the uncontrollable and create mental techniques, such as visual and attentional focus.
